When to Fish

If you are 16 or older, you must have a valid Saskatchewan angling licence. Licences are valid from April 1 until the following March 31 and must be signed by the licence holder. Licences are not transferable or refundable and most can be obtained from recognized licence outlets in the province. Children under 16 may angle, bowfish or spearfish without a licence, except to retain sturgeon, in which case they require a valid angling and sturgeon licence. Treaty Indians may angle, bowfish and spearfish without a licence. Senior citizens who have lived in Saskatchewan for the past three months may pay a reduced fee of $10. The regular fee is $15 and non-residents of Canada pay a fee of $30, for an annual angling licence. Three-day fishing permits are also available for about half of the cost of an annual licence. An annual sturgeon licence is available for $5 and only from Saskatchewan Environment and Resource Management (SERM) District offices.
