The Province hosts many special events and is especially famous for its air shows. The following images were taken at the "Canada Remembers" air show in Saskatoon. The shows asks us to remember the men and women who died on our behalf. It is a wonderful showcase for past and present aeronautical achievements.
|
The air show was established in 1995, the 50th anniversary of the end of World War 11. Many of the acts and displays at the show pay tribute to vets. Each year, over 30,000 invitations are sent to veterans to attend the show. |
In a recent show, arrangements were made to take several of the vets on a memory flight. |
Canadians performing at the show include the Snowbirds, the Sky Hawks, Canada's military parachutists and the CF-18 Hornet fighter. |
The B25 can be seen at the show. It was World War II's most widely used bomber. |
It was a very versatile aircraft and used in several avenues in the war. |
The B25 was flown by many Canadians and is the style of aircraft that many associate with bombers of that time. The plane had tail guns, and top-mounted turret guns. |
