Presentation of A Saskatchewan Ecoregion
Method:
1. Make an oral present of the information about your ecoregion.
The oral presentation must include information about the soils,
climate, plants, animals and land use of the ecoregion. Be creative
with your presentations - a Rap, story or song are more interesting
to listen to than a report.
2. Try to answer the following:
a) Do some species live in more than one ecoregion? How is this
possible?
b) Identify plant and animal species found in southern ecozones
that are not found in northern ecozones. Discuss the reasons relating
climate and range of tolerance to the distribution of these species.
c) How might an overall temperature increase of 5 to 6 degrees
Celsius affect the distribution of tree species across Saskatchewan?
Extensions:
Investigate the types of wildlife found in each region and
their habitat needs. Why do certain species tend to predominate
in the different forest regions (e.g., moose vs. deer; ruffed
grouse vs. sharp tailed grouse)?
