Battleford Provincial Park

Location: 35 kms north of North Battleford on #4 highway.


Located within the tourism region of "The Heart of Canada's Old Northwest", the Battlefords are accessible from the Yellowhead Highway are a gateway to the northern lakes. Jackfish Lake, only 30 km (18 miles) north, is especially popular for fishing, swimming, camping, canoe races, and sailing. The shallow, warm waters of the lake are a popular vacation spot for families. Bordering the lake is a provincial park, a regional park, and the resort village of Cochin with its lighthouse overlooking Jackfish Lake and nearby Murray Lake.



The Battlefords Provincial Park is a good base for exploring this area. This recreation park has over 595 hectares of green space for campers and locals alike. The facility is open year-round and has services available in Cochin as well as within the park. Along with scenic surroundings, excellent beaches, interpretive programs and recreation programs, the park also has a convention centre. Many people make a day-trip to the area to enjoy the provincial park's beautiful 18-hole golf course. The park is well-used during the winter months by avid cross-country skiers. On the south-west shore of Jackfish Lake is Meota Regional Park, next to the community of Meota. The park is a popular spot for swimming, boating, sailing, waterskiing and fishing.
