Saskatchewan Landing Provincial Park

GPS: 50d 39.55m N 108d 00.28m W 1870 feet
Location: on the shore of Lake Diefenbaker, 50 kms north of Swift Current

Deep razorback hills and the expansive waters of Lake Diefenbaker await you at this historic river crossing in the southwest. The park occupies over 5,500 hectares and is a natural environment park on the western end of the lake. Visitors of this Prairie Schooner tourism region will enjoy the great wildlife viewing, hiking trails, swimming, fishing, windsurfing and the full-service marina along with the interpretive programs.

You can also visit the Goodwin House Visitor Centre which interprets the geology and natural history of the area. The visitor centre is a turn-of-the-century stone house built by a North West Mounted Police officer.

This crossing is historically significant as a major river crossing for early Saskatchewan inhabitants. Generations of Indian and Metis buffalo hunters forded the river at this point. Indian tipi rings can still be seen in the area. When ranchers and homesteaders began to settle the west, it became a stage coach station and ferry landing. The ferry operated here until the bridge was built in the 1950s.
