Paddock
A grazing area that is a subdivision of a grazing management unit, and is enclosed and separated from other areas by a fence or barrier

Pathogen
An agent capable of producing disease

Particle Density (Dp)
Mass per unit volume of soil particles and does not include the porespace. The value is expressed as g per cm3 or in SI units as Mg per cubic meter, Mg m-3.

Pasture
A type of grazing management unit enclosed and separated from other areas by fencing or other barriers and devoted to the production of forage for harvest primarily by grazing.

Porosity
The volume of bulk soil not occupied by solid particles.

Prairie
Nearly level or rolling grassland, originally treeless, and usually characterized by fertile soil.

Primary Consumer
Organisms that subsists on plant material

Primary Producer
Organisms that produces organic material from solar energy and inorganic substances e.g a photosynthetic plant.

Prizmatic
A type of soil structure with prism-like aggregates with vertical axes longer than horizontal axes. Typically found in B horizons of Chernozemic and Solonetzic soils.

Prokaryote
An organism whose cells do not contain nuclei. Only the bacteria are prokaryotes.

Protozoa
Single-celled eucaryotic organisms such as amoeba
